is it a good idea to place the google analytics javascript code at the very bottom of the page just before

</body>

or should it be within the <head> and </head>

I personally think it's better at the bottom.

The reason? Because it takes time to execute, I had a problem on a website a while ago (a couple of years, so maybe this isn't an issue now?) where my javascript was being held up because it was placed after the analytics code. It took me a while to realise what was going on...
