Good morning!
I have inherited a site and I am new to .php and Dreamweaver.  So far I've been able to update everything except for one page.  Even if I change one word and try to save it I get the following message:
Encountered one error during the transfer.  The only documentation that was left behind is the following:
"if the file cannot be written to it needs it's permissions set to 664"
When I right click on the file to see index.php Properties I can change the permissions mode to 664 but it reverts back to what it was and I receive: error writing file attributes.

I'm so frustrated has anyone had this problem?
Any information would be VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!!

try setting the permissions to 777 then writing. tell me if it works.

Your connecting through FTP using dreamweaver I assume?  Sounds like dreamweaver is having a problem writing it in general, so 777 wouldn't work either I don't believe.  Try another FTP App.  Filezilla maybe?

Thank you both SO MUCH!  I couldn't make it stay at 777 but when I switched to another FTP app it worked!

Yeah Deamweaver sucks
Suggestion: always try another application if does not work, actually that's what usually comes to one's mind first of all...
